Reown Payments or WalletConnect Pay? Which solution is better for me?

The Reown SDK is designed for crypto-enabled app developers, incorporating payments solutions into a wider stack also offering authentication and interaction solutions. WalletConnect Pay is a standalone B2B payments infrastructure product targeting merchants, PSPs, and e-commerce/POS systems — it’s purely focused on crypto payment processing. The bottom line:
- If you’re building a crypto-enabled app, Reown is likely your best solution
- If you want to accept crypto payments in your online or in-person store, WalletConnect Pay may suit you better.
Which architecture type suits your business better?
Which architecture type suits your business better?
The Reown SDK’s payment solutions are client-initiated: your frontend passes payment parameters (recipient, amount, asset) directly into the SDK, which opens a modal UI and handles the flow. WalletConnect Pay is server-authoritative: a payment intent is created server-side, and the wallet resolves the canonical payment details by calling Gateway endpoints. This means the server defines what the wallet does, not the client, making WalletConnect Pay more tamper-resistant.
What level of compliance do you need?
What level of compliance do you need?
WalletConnect Pay provides infrastructure for compliance reporting that Reown doesn’t. When a user connects their wallet, WalletConnect Pay runs 3 pre-execution checks; Wallet screening, location check and identity screening. These checks do not replace or outsource your own regulatory obligations. Instead, they can be incorporated into your own compliance process to help you meet your necessary obligations.
What other features do you need?

Reown offers broader solutions such as smart accounts, app analytics, funding from existing wallets, hooks and interactions infrastructure and more.WalletConnect Pay is purely for payments, also offering deeper payment solutions such as merchant reconciliation, fiat off-ramp, POS integration, gateway API, payment history, and whitelabel.
